Academics

At the School for Lifelong Education you can get your bachelor's in psychology, Judaic studies, human services, or interdisciplinary studies.

The Degrees We Offer

  • Associate in Arts (A.A.) in Interdisciplinary Liberal Arts and Sciences
  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Interdisciplinary Liberal Arts and Sciences
  • Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Interdisciplinary Liberal Arts and Sciences
  • Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Psychology
  • Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Judaic Studies
  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Human Services

An interdisciplinary degree takes two related liberal arts areas and combines them to create a unique degree customized to your academic needs and professional goals. Examples include psychology & art; Judaic studies & education; math & education; psychology & human services.

How You'll Learn

The School for Lifelong Education provides Associate and Bachelor’s degrees, but our “classroom” format is non-traditional, or not always in a classroom, so you can balance your academic goals and meet your personal, family, and employment responsibilities.

Courses are offered in a variety of formats:

Traditional Classes

These are courses that meet in a traditional classroom setting once a week for 2 1/2 hours, at a set time that is sensitive to your schedule.

Bi-Weekly Collaboratives

Small collaborative sessions are scheduled on alternate weeks (you'll notice week A and week B designations on our calendar), providing an opportunity for academic exchange between instructors and students, based largely on work completed outside the classroom.

One-on-One Mentorials

Mentorials are scheduled by appointment and are one-on-one meetings with faculty to guide you in expanding your research into specialized topics of interest. You will need to meet a minimum of five times per semester, but have the flexibility to find a time that works for you and your professor. You will spend the same amount of time completing the readings, individualized assignments, and quizzes as you would in a traditional class, but you’ll be able to do it at your convenience and at home.

Classes are offered on separate days for men and women.

  • Men meet on Sunday nights and Thursday nights
  • Women meet Sunday mornings, and Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday day and night.

Here to Support You

The academic dean, Dr. Briendy Stern, will meet with you each semester to craft a plan to move you towards your professional goals. Our campus includes two computer rooms with lab techs to help you, and our well-stocked library has a full-time librarian here to assist you with research materials for your courses.
